Family reunification

You want to apply for a residence permit to live on Aruba with your spouse/wife or with your father/mother. For this, you need a residence permit.

There are four situations in which family reunification is possible. We describe these below:

Different Situations

  1. Reunification of family members with a person in Aruba with a non-compulsory status or by law (LTUV article 1A or B). Family members are allowed to do so in this case.
  2. Reunification of family members with a person in Aruba who has a permanent residence permit. Family members can, in this case, get a temporary residence permit. (Please note that when providing this residence permit there is no permission to work).
  3. Family reunification with a person who has a temporary residence permit in Aruba, and lives for at least 3 years (legal) in Aruba. In this case, a temporary residence permit may be given to the spouse and children of 12 years or younger. Children under the age of 12 may be granted a temporary permit if the child is in school and can show a valid and official proof of enrollment of a recognized school. (Please note that when providing this temporary residence permit, there is no permission to work).
  4. Family reunification with government and immigrant migrants who are (temporarily) admitted. In this case, a temporary residence permit may be given to the spouse/children and children under 18 years of age. (Please note that when providing this residence permit there is no permission to work).

Please note that in the case of family reunification of minor children, legal custody is required and the other parent must give permission for the child’s departure from the country of origin.

Does any of the above situations apply to you and you meet the terms and conditions? In the overview below, check what matters to you before you can apply for a residence permit.
